Endeavour takes off in the last mission to the International Space Station




The shuttle Endeavour blasted off from Florida on Monday bound for the International Space Station (ERA) in his last assignment before his retirement after 20 years of service.



The spacecraft lifted off from Kennedy Space Center NASA's under a clear sky at 8:56 local time (12:56 GMT) as planned with six crew members on board for a 16-day mission.



Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords , head injury in an attack last January Tuscson, Arizona, was present at the space center to see from her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, who commands his fourth flight.



Endeavour course leads to the orbital station astrophysics experiment-its-kind valued at two billion dollars to help study the formation of the universe.



The launch had been postponed the April 29 due to technical problems.



This is the last release to come to an end the shuttle program at NASA after three decades. Then just subtract an Atlantis mission scheduled for next July.
